- Travel I-95 South to exit 69 (Route 9 North)
- Follow Route 9 North to exit 3
- Take left at the end of the exit
- Take right at the first stop light onto West Ave. Travel one half mile to the first stop sign
- At the three-way fork, continue down the center fork (West Ave) for .3 miles to the branch on left (West Ave becomes Main Street)
- Parking is available on either side of Main Street, or behind the Essex Post Office (on right)

From the West - Stamford/New Haven:
- Travel I-95 North to exit 65
- Take left at the end of the exit onto Plains Rd (Route 153)
- Follow Plains Rd for 5.3 miles to the stop light (Plains Rd has become West Ave)
- At the three-way fork, continue down the center fork (West Ave) for .3 miles to the branch on left (West Ave becomes Main Street)
- Parking is available on either side of Main Street, or behind the Essex Post Office (on right)

- Travel Route 9 South to exit 3
- Take left at the end of the exit
